Miranda Tompkins, M.A.

Miranda’s interest in psychological assessment is rooted in her background in developmental neuroscience. Her research foundation continues to inform her clinical work to bridge the gap between science and practice to better support children, adolescents, and their families. Miranda is passionate about using assessment in a strengths-based and empowering way. She is committed to providing thoughtful, compassionate, and standardized assessments that help uncover each child’s strengths and challenges, with the goal of making meaningful, tailored recommendations.

Miranda earned her M.A. in Psychology from American University in 2025, where she focused on the role of parent-child relationships in child development. As a research associate, she collaborated with graduate and undergraduate students to design and implement standardized research protocols involving parents and their infants. For her master’s thesis, she conducted independent research exploring how sex moderates the relationship between positive reappraisal and rejection sensitivity in adolescents.

Born and raised in the DMV, Miranda spends much of her free time on the Potomac River, either coxing for the Potomac Boat Club men’s sweep team or coaching middle and high school boys in competitive rowing. When she’s not on the water, she enjoys experimenting with new soup recipes, baking fresh bread, and crocheting something cozy.
